Blogging While Watching LOST: LA X – Part 2

by Christina Gleason on February 2, 2010

Juliet’s burial. It’s somewhat harder – her death – after there was a glimmer of hope that she might survive.

At LAX.

Jack got paged. There was a mixup with his father’s coffin. They never put it on the plane. The funeral is in two hours, and they don’t know when the coffin will arrive because they don’t know where it is.

Back on the island.

“That’s a big wall.”

They’re going down the hole that Danielle’s crew members went down. There’s the guy without the arm.

With everything lit by flashlight, it feels very much like the X-Files.

The whispers. Kate disappeared. Did the whispers sound like Jacob? It’s a crazy labyrinth. There was a giant pit… maybe Jack shouldn’t run around like that.

New guys with guns.

“Guess we found the Temple.”

Commercial break. The Temple and its guardians look very Buddhist to my husband and me. Are we going to find out what they did to young Ben that stole his innocence? Will Sayid become one of them now?

In LAX.

“Anything to declare?”
“Just a murderer.”

Kate has to go to the bathroom. She stole Jack’s pen on the plane. Can you really pick the lock on a pair of handcuffs with a pen? Mars saw the spring. Kate just gave him the head wound that killed him on the island. Nice cover  story. He came in there and attacked her.

Sawyer saw Kate’s handcuffs in the elevator. Helped her get out of there. He’s a smooth con man.

Back on the island.

“Stop calling me boss. You’re not my deputy anymore.”

Sawyer wants Miles to talk to Juliet. He says she’s gone. Is he going to make something up? No. The important thing she wantedd to tell him. “It worked.”

At the Temple.

Cindy… with long hair. The guy said to shoot them… until Hurley mentioned Jacob’s name. He’s going to prove it to them by telling them to open the guitar case. It contains an ankh. A rather large one. Which actually contained a message. A list. They’re all on it. And if Sayid dies, they’re all in a lot of trouble.

In LAX.

Jin has a big bag full of money, and he doesn’t speak English. Will Sun speak up? No. She lied. Maybe she sees this as the out she didn’t take in Australia.

At the Temple.

A bubbling pool of dirty water. “It isn’t clear. What happened?” He’s putting his blood in the pool. Oh no, he’s seeing if the water will heal his cut, I think. It didn’t heal. There are risks.

“Do what you have to do.”

Bringing Sayid into the pool. Turning the hourglass. Submerging him. Sayid’s flopping around like a fish. Fighting. He stopped moving, but they wouldn’t let him up until the hourglass ran out. Laying him down prostrate. He’s dead. Will Jack beat on his chest like he did to Charlie? But when Kate stopped him this time, he listened. He didn’t keep going like he did with Charlie. He let him stay dead.

Back at LAX.

Sayid is at baggage claim looking at this picture of Nadia. Kate is trying to figure out how to get out. Frogurt stops her from getting into a cab. Mars is conscious again.

The Puppet Man from Heroes is Claire and Kate’s cab driver. Claire’s in labor?

Miles and Sawyer got jumped in the jungle. Sawyer took four of them out before they hit him with a rock.

“I don’t like the way English tastes on my tongue.”

Hurley just caused a panic telling them about Jacob’s death. They’re forming the ash circle, set off a flare.

Ben to Locke: “What are you?”

“You’re the monster.”
“Let’s not resort to namecalling.”

Locke was confused when Ben killed him. His last thought was, “I don’t understand. Isn’t that just the saddest thing you ever heard?” Smokey says the only thing admirable about Locke was the fact that he didn’t want to leave.

Smokey wants to go home. Where the heck is home? That would certainly be… disastrous.

Hurley to Sayid. “If you ever want to talk, I’m around.” But Miles is acting weird. Sayid not really dead? He says it’s nothing.

Kate’s taking care of Sawyer again. But she’s still sticking up for Jack. Sawyer won’t kill Jack because Jack deserves to suffer.

Back in LAX.

Jack’s on the phone with his mom. That wouldn’t be a fun phone call. Locke lost his bag. Jack lost his father. Lost and found. Huh.

Weird seeing Locke without his scar. “They didn’t lose your father. They just lost his body… Either way, your story beats the hell out of mine.”

Jack tells Locke that nothing is irreversible, offers him a consult about his spine. Friends in Los Angeles? Weird.

Back on the island.

Richard sees the fireworks. He knows what it means, and so do all of Ilana’s people. “Don’t shoot him! Don’t shoot him!”

“Good to see you out of those chains.” Richard was a slave aboard the Black Rock? Smokey has a limp Richard slung over his back. Focus on Locke’s dead body…

Switch to Sayid’s dead body.

The Others have something to say to Jack privately, and they’ll drag him out if need be.

Sayid just sat up… and didn’t sound like himself.

Oh boy.

Blogging While Watching LOST: LA X – Part 1

by Christina Gleason on February 2, 2010

White screen. Clouds. Jack on Oceanic Flight 815. Cindy, the flight attendant.

Greg Grunberg as the pilot on the intercom. Bernard got back from the bathroom. Jack’s in the bathroom. A spot of blood on his neck that he doesn’t remember? Desmond is on the plane!

“Do I know you from somewhere?” Did they meet running laps in the stadium? Or did that not happen either?

Sunken island. DHARMA shark. The foot of the statue.

This is what would have happened if Jack’s plan succeeded, but the island sank to the bottom of the ocean when the bomb detonated.

When we come back from commercial, will we get a look at what would have happened if Jack’s plan failed?

Kate’s eye. She’s in a tree. Partially deaf, or is there something wrong with my sound? Okay good, she can hear now. That was disconcerting.

Miles.  “What happened? Where are we? I can’t hear you. Are your ears ringing?”

That’s the Swan hatch after Desmond blew it up. So they’re back to the future. In 2007?

Sawyer: “You were wrong!” Boot to the head! Finish that fight you started with Jack 30 years ago!

“She’s dead, you son of a bitch, because you were wrong!”

Back on the plane. Agent Mars waiting for Kate to come out of the bathroom.

Arzt thinks that Hurley is hilarious. “I won the lottery, and I like chicken, so I bought it.”

Advice from a con man.

“Nothing bad ever happens to me. I’m the luckiest guy alive.” Because the numbers were not broadcast from the island, so he never got the bad luck.

Back on the island.

Sayid is still bleeding.

JULIET IS ALIVE!

Sayid is feeling regret for everyone he’s tortured and murdered as he nears the afterlife.

Who is Hurley aiming a gun at in the jungle? My money’s on Vincent. But it’s Jacob! Jacob’s not dead.

Back on the plane.

Jin is still controlling Sun. Locke is looking at the crash information.

Boone is alive, talking to Locke. Shannon didn’t come back from Australia with Boone. Neil Frogurt is snoozing between them. Locke went on his walkabout. “If this thing goes down, I’m sticking with you.”

Back on the island.

Fake Locke is inside the statue. Ben is staring at the fire, where Jacob isn’t.

“Why didn’t he fight back? Why did he just let me kill him?”
“Because he was beaten.”

Fake Locke wants to talk to Richard. I can only imagine how that conversation will go now that Richard knows that Locke is actually dead.

Ben’s OH CRAP moment, coming face to face with Locke’s corpse.

While we’re on a commercial break, let me pontificate for a moment. Ben asked why Jacob would just let him kill him. What if that was Jacob’s Obi-Wan Kenobi moment? Killing his mortal form just made him even more powerful? I mean, his nemesis survived as a smoke monster that could shapeshift into people out of memories. Who’s to say that Jacob couldn’t start doing the same thing? Well, maybe not the EXACT same thing… but appearing in spirit?

Back to the Swan hatch. Trying to dig Juliet out.

Hurley’s following Jacob, has a lot of questions for him. “Your friend Jin won’t be able to see me, because I died about an hour ago.” He needs to take Sayid to the Temple; it’s his only hope. Bring the guitar case. Well, young Ben lived when they brought him to the Temple.

Juliet’s not making any more noise. “If she dies, I’ll kill him.”

Back on the plane.

They need a doctor. Is it Charlie stuck in the bathroom? Yep. Sayid broke down the door. Charlie’s not breathing. Drug overdose, I’m sure.

Commercial break.

On the plane. “What’s going on back there, Earheart?” LOL.

Sayid is trying to help Jack resuscitate Charlie. Something in his throat. His bag of heroin.

“Am I  alive? Terrific.”

Back on the island.

Sawyer’s making his way down to Juliet. She’s bloody and unconscious. She opened her eyes. “Hi.”

“I hit the bomb, and we’re still here.” She’s so upset because she wanted to make it so he never came. She never would have come either, since the island would have been underwater.

Ben is still being mysterious with Richard and the Others. (And the others.)

Guys with guns. They now know that Jacob is dead. They opened fire, and now Fake Locke is gone, but here comes Smokey. They are all so dead.

The circle of powder protected him from bring touched by Smokey, but it didn’t protect him from having something thrown at him.

Yeah, Ben. Look who you’ve been serving all these years. “I’m sorry you had to see me like that.” So for all of those people who didn’t get it before… you got it now?

I’d like to take a moment to point out how much of a pain it is to blog this. “Back on the plane. “Back on the island.” Oh well, hopefully we’ll all get used to it.

Back at the hatch.

Juliet’s delirious. She’s lost too much blood. She’s not going to make it.

“James, kiss me.”
“You got it, Blondie.”
“I have to tell you something, and it’s really, really important.”

But she died. It’s so horrible watching Sawyer cry.

“You did this.”

Back on the plane.

Charlie’s in handcuffs. “I was supposed to die.” Dude, if you only knew!

It’s a beautiful day in Los Angeles. I wonder if they looked up the actual weather for September 22, 2004 for the pilot’s little spiel.

Everyone is going to where they were “supposed to be.” Or not.

The cops are here to lead Charlie away. He’s supporting his Flash Forward haircut.

Locke still can’t walk? Nope. So he made up the walkabout story for Boone. What he wished had happened.

Bring on Part 2!
