LOST Season 5 Rewatch – Day 3

by Christina Gleason on January 27, 2010

I missed a day yesterday, but I’m back in my LOST groove today!

  • I simply love the reveal that Sawyer is LaFleur.
  • But I still hate Sawyer’s LaFleur hair.
  • Poor crazy, grieving, babbling Daniel.
  • I can imagine the conversation. “You’re from the motor pool, man. How did you know how to do a C-section?”
  • Tense meeting of the generals: Horace and Richard.
  • “Your buddy out there with the eyeliner.” Hehe.
  • Have we figured out what exactly Richard Alpert and his people were going to do with Dead DHARMA Paul’s body yet?
  • Frank Lapidus is a freaking ace pilot!
  • “Good to see you, Kate.” “You too, James.” Not Freckles and Sawyer.
  • There is no good reason for Sun to have stayed in the present day while everyone else from the Oceanic 6 ended up back in 1977. Except, you know, for dramatic effect. I’d like it to be explained by pseudoscience though!
  • Does anyone else cheer when watching Sun whack Ben on the back of the head with the oar?
  • So Sun and Frank hearing the smoke monster was supposed to be our hint that Christian isn’t really Christian and Locke isn’t really Locke. Well, once we know that the smoke monster is essentially Jacob’s nemesis, the man in black, and he can take physical form from the psyches of the people on the island.
  • What a fateful meeting between Sayid “the Hostile” and young Ben Linus.  The lights should have flickered or lightning should have flashed.
  • Sayid should definitely wear long hair and leather jackets all the time.
  • Ben’s father is a real… well, there’s a word for him that I don’t like to use. It means illegitimate son.
  • Ilana and Sayid. She likes her steak bloody, and she wears killer boots.
  • Flaming DHARMA bus!
  • We will always have to wonder… would Ben have been this screwed up if Sayid hadn’t tried to kill him? I really need to go back and watch the earlier seasons, especially when Ben was being held prisoner in the Swan station.
  • I love Miles telling Jack he’s free to leave any time he wants… but he’ll shoot him in the leg.
  • Kate’s so good at heart. Giving blood to little Ben because he’s just a kid and she can’t let him die.
  • Kate losing Aaron in the grocery store is even more terrifying to watch after having watched my own son try to wander off in public.
  • I liked the Cassidy/Kate dynamic post-Oceanic Flight 815. I don’t like it so much now that they started having playdates.
  • I couldn’t watch the scene where Kate said goodbye to Aaron. I had to do other things while it was on the screen.
  • Healing young Ben steals his innocence. That sounds more wrong than it should.

Less than a week away now until the season premiere!

LOST Season 5 Rewatch – Day 2

by Christina Gleason on January 25, 2010

On to disc 2! I think I can do this. I can get through the rest of the discs before next wee’s season premiere.

  • I still can’t get used to Kate’s off-island eye makeup.
  • Aaron is a pretty easy-going kid. Maybe he remembers Sun from the island, and that’s why he doesn’t freak out when Mommy Kate leaves him with her?
  • Okay, did we ever see who was shooting at the time travelers in the outrigger? It was after the Ajira flight was “redirected,” so I’m thinking Ilana and company… but I don’t remember if we actually saw it happening later in the season.
  • I still do a little squee when we see the French shipwreck party, and even moreso when they pick up Jin.
  • I still don’t know how Sun could possibly leave Ji Yeon to go back to the island – husband or not.
  • Hehe. Charlotte speaks Korean… and Klingon.
  • Ah yes. Canton-Rainer Carpet Cleaning. Reincarnation. The Easter Egg that is also a Red Herring. Since Locke doesn’t really get reincarnated.
  • Hurley’s a good guy, buying all the seats on that plane even though it made him look like a big jerk.
  • “We’re not going to Guam, are we?” I’d rather hear that line over and over again in promos than, “We have to go baaack!”
  • Great meeting between Charles Widmore and John Locke in the desert camp.
  • Love the acknowledgement from Widmore that John’s parents had a “sense of humor” in naming him after a philosopher, so that’s why he did the same with the fake Jeremy Bentham ID.
  • It’s disturbing to watch anyone get strangled, whether it’s someone trying to kill Sayid, or Ben killing Locke.

This is really helping me to gear up for next week’s season premiere. I can’t wait!

LOST Season 5 Rewatch – Day 1

January 21, 2010

Since I got the LOST Season 5 DVDs as a gift, I figured now was as good a time as any to watch before the final season starts. Here’s a bullet point list of things I still find cool when watching the second time around:

I love how Ben turning the frozen donkey wheel and moving [...]

Analysis of the LOST Last Supper Promo

January 4, 2010

There is a phenomenal analysis of LOST’s new Last Supper promo done by Fishbiscuit over at DocArzt.com. With all of the religious overtones and allusions from the previous five seasons, I don’t think the term “overanalyzed” is appropriate. We know that the LOST creative team loves to throw things at the fans that we can [...]

Which LOST Character Will You Miss the Most?

July 14, 2009

LOST Season 6 will begin without many of the characters we’ve loved and  lost over the years. Boone, Shannon, Libby, Mr. Eko, Charlie, Daniel, Juliet… Which one will you miss the most?
Personally, I’m going to miss Juliet. I mean, we’ve seen Charlie quite a bit since he died, so I don’t really “miss” him too [...]

Will Charlie Be Back in LOST Season 6?

June 5, 2009

Dude, you’re dead. At least that’s what Hurley said to Charlie when he had an off-island conversation with him at St. Rosa.
But according to this latest promo from ABC featuring Dominic Monaghan, maybe Charlie Pace isn’t quite so dead anymore. My fellow Charlie fans should enjoy the possibilities! I mean, they wouldn’t pay him to [...]

Who Does Juliet Look Like?

March 11, 2009

Harper once told Juliet that Ben has a thing for her because she looks just like an unnamed ‘her.’ Could it be that she looks just like…?

Who is Daniel Faraday’s Mother?

LOST fans got confirmation of Daniel Faraday’s mother’s identity on last night’s episode, This Place is Death.

Shipper Love for Sayid and Nadia

July 21, 2008

We know that their relationship is doomed to be cut tragically short when Nadia is murdered less than a year after she and Sayid find each other again, but I try not to dwell on that.
Sayid and Nadia didn’t have it easy from the beginning. It was his job to torture her when she [...]

Sucks to be Juliet

June 23, 2008

Poor Juliet. She thought she was going to leave on the submarine, and Locke blew it up. Now she thought that she was going to be leaving by raft then by freighter… and that blew up, too.
Poor thing has been stuck on the island longer than any of our castaways, though admittedly, she [...]
