Blogging While Watching LOST: The Variable

by Christina Gleason on April 29, 2009

Oh wow, Desmond was injured when Ben shot him. Adrenaline allowed him to attack Ben in defense of his wife.

Daniel is back on the island. I wanted to see the Degroots get off the sub! Come on!

“Who told you to get on that plane?”
“Actually, it was your mother.”

And Daniel says that she lied about  destiny. So if she lied and Jack wasn’t supposed to be there, what could have possibly been her agenda for sending him back there?

Whoa, I was wondering why there were stars in the background of the logo screen… Star Trek preview! That’s a freaky looking thing. Yikes.

They picked someone who definitely looks like a younger Eloise Hawking. Daniel has always been a savant, apparently. He was counting metronome beats while playing the piano.

“I can make time.” Eerie foretelling. What Mrs. Hawking was pushing him toward?

It’s nice for Jack to look poleaxed for once. “Phil, Jack. Jack, Phil.” LOL.

Is this the operning scene of the season? Yes it is. Daniel has such a fantastic tortured genius look. Since my husband rarely reads this blog, it’s safe for me to say that I find that look really, really hot. ;-)

So Daniel tells Dr. Chang about the Incident. It’s pretty safe to say that Dr. Chang doesn’t listen to him, or else it would never happen, and we all know that you can’t change the future. Despite what the good doctor knows about time travel, I’m sure he doesn’t believe Daniel when he tells him he’s from the future. Much like Daniel didn’t believe Desmond when Desmond came to see him at Oxford in 1996. End commercial break to see if I’m right.

Oh look at that hair at Daniel’s Oxford graduation. Definitely not hot. Teresa is his girlfriend/research assistant. And that poor girl ends up a mess. Can Eloise see the future? He got his journal as a gift from his mother.

Sawyer calls a town hall meeting. “Welcome to the meeting, Twitchy.” Haha.

“Because one of the Hostiles is my mother, and she’s the only person on this island that can get us back to where we belong.”

Side note: My husband just had an “Aha!” moment. “Was she the girl with the rifle? Near the bomb site.” Yes, dear. I forgive you for not reading my blog.

So here’s what I forsee happening. Dr. Chang is going to send the children – at least Miles and Charlotee – off the island on the submarine before the Incident occurs, less than six hours from now. Within that time, our displaced time travelers set out to find the Hostiles. They are able to find them and convince Eloise to do whatever needs to be done to send them back to the future. I’m guessing this happens at the exact moment that the Inceident occurs, due to the large concentration of energy that is released at the Swan Station.

Dan is watching the footage of the fake Oceanic 815 wreckage. Widmore comes knocking. “Don’t be embarrassed, we’ve never met.”

“Daniel, what if I told you they’re not dead. What if I told you the plane was a fake? An elaborate, expensive fake.” Confession! He confessed because he knows that Daniel won’t remember it tomorrow. The island will heal his mind, his memory. (Like it healed Locke’s legs!)

“You sound like my mother.” I said those words about five seconds before Daniel did. Predictable. “We were old friends.”

141717 is the code for the fence. Thanks, Juliet. It seems that lines have been drawn.

Scary Dan is going to frighten young Charlotte about not coming back to the island.

DHARMA shootout! There’s no coming back from this one.

Daniel still plays the piano. Good for him! His mom tells him he has to accept Widmore’s offer. “Will it make you proud of me? Then I’ll do it.”

Sawyer! Juliet! Run! Crap, it’s too late to run. How are they going to get out of this one?

Okay, Jack and Kate. You hooked up with the guy who wants to nuke the Swan station with a hydrogen bomb named Jughead.

Desmond’s okay!

WIDMORE IS DANIEL’S FATHER! DUDE! We wondered. We speculated. BUT NOW WE HAVE CONFIRMATION! OMG!

Eloise kills her son. And she knows. She knows and she sends him back anyways. She pushed him and pushed him to his death.

I am in awe how fast you got this blog up. I was still scratching my head over the Lost episode and yet you have managed to build a beautiful summary.

So, here are my thoughts.
1.I am thinking Widmore has fathered everyone on the show.
2. I am going to start making fantastic tortured genius costumes for your husband to wear when he is feeling romantic.
3. why is Sawyer wearing so many clothes? I am petitioning for more Sawyerness with less clothing. The Jack without shirt was a nice attempt on the show’s part but just not enough.
4. I can see where the show is heading. I it is going to end with them all being on the original plane and it landing as it should have in Los Angeles while they all go their separate ways.
