Blogging While Watching LOST: Dead is Dead

by Christina Gleason on April 8, 2009

A horse! Jacob wanted little Ben saved? When did Richard have the time to talk to Jacob about it?

Charles Widmore looked far better as a young adult in young Ben’s time then he did as a gawky teenager in “Jughead.”

So my guess is that Ben is just playing off his surprise with the “It’s one thing to believe…” thing. I don’t think he really thought John Locke would come back to life. I think he really wanted him out of the way. And I think Locke knows that, too.

Ben came back to the island to be judged. By Smokey. I’ve been saying it on Twitter since the episode preview aired. I mean, how else would he be judged? Not a tough call.

Ah yes, and now he’s trying to convince Caesar that Locke is deranged and possibly dangerous.

We just saw Ben kidnap Alex. And in the process, he made Danielle even crazier than she already was. Although, was she really crazy? Her people did try to kill her.

Um, Ben just shot Caesar. Why would he bother trying to convince Caesar that Locke was dangerous if he was going to play it this way? Just so it could come to this, and he could make sure that he and Locke could never go back to the beach with the new band of survivors?

We keep seeing these outriggers. I’m just waiting for the big storm where our flashing Losties get shot at. Which people were firing at them? We’ve got a number of different players now.

Emo Ben and Spunky Ethan came back with Baby Alex. But they were supposed to kill Danielle. Charles Widmore really was in charge of the Others for a while. Huh.

There’s a light on in Ben’s house. Alex’s room. Who will we find in there? My money’s on Claire. Well, Ghost Claire. Or will we see Ghost Alex? How disappointing. It’s Sun. And of course Ben is going to lie to her about her friends being in the DHARMA Intiative back in the ’70s. Sigh. You know, it would be a welcome change to hear him speak the truth. It would throw everyone off. We’d all think that the truth was the opposite of whatever he said.

Ben has to go through three secret passages to get into the little crawlspace that will apparently lead him to Smokey.

Charles broke the rules by leaving the island and having a child (Penny) with an outsider. Ben said that he won’t be selfish, that he’ll only act in the island’s interest. We’ve seen how that plays out.

“Dead is dead,” huh? Not even the island can do anything about that? Lies and more lies. He saw his dead mom. We’ve seen Christian, Dave, Charlie, Yemi, Claire… so many others. Blah dee freaking blah, Ben. I used to think he was an awesome bad guy. Now he just irritates me.

DUDE! Let us see what happened to Penny! And is the boat’s name literally “Our Mutual Friend?” Or does it have a name of a mutual friend?

It’s the Temple. The wall is about a half mile out. They’re going under. Like Danielle’s crew.

He shot at Desmond! But he was carrying a bag of groceries. Hopefully he had a tin of something in there. Penny! Oh please, we saw Ben fail to kill Danielle because she had Alex… please let him have the same mercy for Penny because of Charlie! Oh Charlie, what a cute little blond boy! YES! Desmond to the rescue! Beat him down! That’s about what I expected happened to Ben’s face and arm… I just didn’t know what happened immiedately beforehand. Thank you, Penny is safe!

Why did she just knock Frank out? He was the pilot. She knows that.

Ben falling through the floor speaks volumes about what the island thinks of him. Whoa, look at the hieroglyphics. Is that Anubis with Smokey?

Smokey.

[Pardon me. Couldn't tear my eyes away until the episode ended, so this last bit is a recap of what went through my head.]

That was a special kind of torture, forcing Ben to watch Alex get killed again. I can’t believe that Smokey let him live! My husband thinks it’s because he actually showed emotion. He cared. I still think he got let off easy.

Alex. Is this going to be a Yemi/Eko thing? Mr. Eko talked to a vision of Yemi, and when he didn’t respond appropriately, he got smashed on the jungle floor.

Yeah Ghost Alex! Slam him up against that wall! It’s still not justice, but I think it put the fear of God (or Hell) into him to follow Locke and not try to kill him – again. How many times would that make? I mean, aside from the time he succeeded. He tried shooting him and leaving him in the mass grave, and that didn’t work. He did manage to strangle him to death, but then the island went and resurrected him. Wow.

Can’t wait to see what happens next!
